In that case which is the better between the dms or the weaver? I have heard that the weaver has better glass but after looking I like the look of the dms reticleweaver scopes better.

Just saw that the leupold is not true 1x so that is out for me. I however was also wondering if the 3x on a weaver is weaver enough mag to make hits on a weaver deer out to 300 yards maybe slightly farther if needed.

Ya it will be fine. I have shot 3 gun with a 1x3 and it is fine on the magnification. Another option is the millett 1x4.weaver optics It has a non cross hair reticle ie circle with a dot in the middle that can light up, but is visible non like. It is a very easy weaver optics scope to shoot well. If there is weaver scope mountstarget behind the circle it will hit
